EDS M-PP Protégé Selection Criteria

The various Government agencies participating in the M-PP have different criteria for the selection of protégés, based on size, revenue, years in business, or business case. Generally, EDS applies the agency-specific criteria and searches for businesses that need assistance in the areas where EDS is considered an industry leader. We also look for potential protégés who are a "good fit" for EDS and our M-PP customer. The "good fit" justification is critical in determining the return on investment to the customer. There must be an advantage in doing business with the EDS M-PP partner.

Pre-screening

Must be certified as one of the following:

  • Veteran-owned small businesses
  • Certified small disadvantaged businesses
  • Woman-owned small businesses (self-certified)
  • Qualified firms/organizations employing the severely disabled
  • Native Hawaiian firms
  • Indian tribe firms
  • Historically underutilized business zone

Must meet the EDS M-PP criteria:

  • At least 7 years in business.
  • At least $3 million in revenue annually.
  • At least 45 employees.
  • No more than 200 employees.
  • Company is currently working with EDS, or has past performance with EDS.
  • Company will work with EDS to have a reciprocally beneficial mentor-protégé relationship.
  • Core capabilities and corporate philosophy are similar or complementary to those of EDS.
  • Company meets the requirements of the Agency or service sponsoring the relationship.
  • Company understands the M-PP, its requirements, and its senior leadership supports the effort.

After the prescreening process occurs, a preliminary decision is made to continue vetting the small business as potential protégé or an official decision is made to no longer pursue the relationship.
